Travis Applegate prefers classics.

I corresponded with Travis a while ago about t-shirt designs and incorporating his music and bmx videos in the blog all the while he kept me admiring his humbleness and positivity. Travis lives in south Jersey and is the epitome of my brand Preferred Classics, and it’s only a matter of time that the world will be lucky to know him and see his work. The latest piece he created photoed above is called “apin’ it” made from house paint, spray paint, and paint markers on a wooden chair. You can see the amount of skills this dude has right off the bat. I am a fan of Travis, if there was one person who I could see mirrors the concepts of the Preferred Classics brand it would be him. Check it out.

For more information you can find Travis Applegate on Facebook, tell him Preferred Classics brand sent you. Here is a short video of his BMX skills. Proceed.

The Hotter Than Spring Concert Series Pt: 1 [De La Soul/Mos Def]

Very big shout out to Beat Makers Edition before we move any further, I would like you to get a little familiar in what they are doing and what we are trying to do here on the blog. BME, captures the rawest form of hip hip and brings it to you in visually from concerts, live ciphers, “smokey red-lit stages” and from other venues around the country. When I was first put on to BME I was amazed at the quality and length of the videos which contradicts my less is more theory. Well, watching a 20 minute De La Soul set at a venue in PA makes me almost feel there and other artists, bands (Full Sets). So, this is our spring concert series bringing you dope concert videos from around the country and the world. And remember this will not be limited to only hip hop, enjoy.

#2 Mos Def @Trocadero Philadelphia, PA

St Joe Louis – Almost There Ep

In preparation for their upcoming release entitled 30,000 ft High & Rising, St Joe Louis fuels our impatience with a solid, very dope 6 track EP. The Almost There EP is the end result of pain, death and a series of accidents. These three emcees shine over powerful percussion layered under samples, harmony and grooves. I’m beginning to dislike the term “intro,” in the recent years it become the first track on records that was supposed to get the listener ready for whats to come. Many artists use it as an instrumental opener or some a 15 second interlude with voices and noises. But St Joe Louis does exactly what I feel it should do, smash heads. Especially if you’re an artist whose only primer to new fans is an EP. You must smash heads initially, no time wasted to inform. My personal faves are “Intro”, “Right Away” & “Electric Co.” and the feature heavy “Members Only” Take the time to download and listen, if you feel it please support the artist properly.

Not getting ahead of myself but a Preferred Classics x St. Joe Louis release could be epic. Stay tuned and keep your ears and eyes open.

Abandoned at Qatar’s international airport for days, Nepali workers who come hired, with a visa and contract, on the promise of a steady job and a regular wage, are forced to go without money, without food and with no idea if the companies that they have been contracted to, will ever pick them up.

I have been waiting for this for a minute now and it has finally arrived and put an extra smile on my face. This will be the last CD we are able to download for free from Dom so appreciate it and then support his career. The thing I love about Dom Kennedy is his flow, he doesn’t try to force it and is as natural as can be. He makes it all personable and brings you in his world of all things California. Tangibles.

Harry on the left | Dan from Preferred Classics on the right.

Firstly, I would like to apologize for the blurred low resolution picture, I snapped it using my phone camera but I assure you that these words will make up for the lost quality. We have been spending much time focusing on the brand and how it plays a role in the lives of other people and how experience and feeling compliments product that we forgot how tangible product feels. Last week I was on a soft search trying to find a local printer and found Harry, a wise, passionate and humble man that loves to print shirts. He been around for 35 years and still is insanely excited about screen printing as if he just started 3 weeks ago. I believe that everything happens for a reason and I am a firm believer that things fall into place nicely when left alone to unravel, I also believe that finding the perfect screen printer was the only way our brand could succeed. Of course, there are one hundred million people who can print on a shirt and love what they do, but there has to be a common bond. I will probably tell this story a bunch more times but in retrospect I know my choices either made or unmade brought me to this specific place.

Today we touched a t-shirt with our logo on it, soon you will be feeling it on your back and it will mean something. For my partner and I it meant tangible product, the process and the progression and for you it will mean the same thing. There is nothing that we will not do to make that product be anything short of 100% quality. The first and most important part is done, we got a screen printer now its all about making it for you.

I would like to take this time also to say that Perennial Vision will be no longer. Perennial Vision was a subsidiary element to the brand Preferred Classics, but after some thought we decided to make one uniform brand. Our brand will still be complete with original content videos but it will be under the name Preferred Classics, which makes sense. This blog will still be available and updated up until the time of the soft launch. Thanks for being apart of such a great experience and I will definitely keep you posted and refreshed.
